Unique Learning Experience Connects Perry Township Schools Students to Real Careers

PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ind. — Perry Township Schools is hosting its fourth annual Girls Construction Camp. During camp, students will build greenhouses while working alongside a variety of industry professionals. This camp is one of many initiatives Perry Township Schools is implementing to connect students with real world careers.

Earlier this spring, participating students visited a local architecture and engineering firm, where they collaborated with professionals to create blueprints and design greenhouse models. During camp, the girls will bring those plans to life by constructing three greenhouses. The completed structures will later be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the Perry Township Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports Perry Township Schools students and teachers.

Girls Construction Camp is a partnership between Perry Township Schools, the National Organization of Women in Construction, and Deeply Ingrained. The event is made possible through the support of more than 25 sponsors and 50 volunteers.
