The Refuge, Inc Is Now Debt Free, In Just 5 Years!
In 2020, the Greenwood community outreach center moved into the property at 1150 Southpark Drive with a goal of paying off the mortgage by March 2025, according to a press release. The organization accomplished that goal on March 14. Achieving the goal now allows them to focus all resources on supporting the community through established programs while also developing new ones based on needs.
The staff put together a “Burn the Note” challenge a year prior. The fundraising goal was $86,000, which would cover the remaining balance due.
“Their donors and community partners accepted and surpassed the goal established with $91,000 in contributions,” volunteers said in the release. “After a bit of celebrating, the Refuge board and staff will get down to business planning what is next in support of those in need in Johnson and southern Marion County.”
To celebrate the accomplishment, The Refuge is inviting the community to join them from 4:30-6 p.m. March 31 for an open house. The group celebration will take place at 5:15 p.m., followed with a prayer over the community and its ministry.
