The Refuge Hosts Bands Battling Hunger

The Refuge is hosting Bands Battling Hunger August 29 from 4pm to 8pm at the new Trafalgar Amphitheater. This family-friendly music festival features a mix of worship bands and popular cover bands, creating an experience everyone can enjoy while supporting a mission that directly impacts local families in need.

“BBH is a music festival style event that brings people together around good music, both worship bands and cover bands, food trucks and fun” said Jean Hooten, The Refuge Media Manager, “It brings people together for a cause that puts every penny given back into the community.”

Attendees will enjoy live performances from 8 talented bands, delicious food trucks, shopping vendors, bounce houses, face painting, and activities for all ages. Every dollar that this event raises goes back into the community through the work of The Refuge.

The Refuge provides assistance for physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual needs of Johnson and Marion County residents. Their food pantry is regularly open on select hours between Tuesday and Thursday with additional hours on select Saturdays. They are a faith based community outreach center supported by local churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals.

“The Refuge feeds thousands of families each year and we can serve more each year but we are only limited by funds. This is why BBH exists, to raise funds to help more people” said Hooten.
