SOUTHPORT, Ind. — The Southport Police Department will join more than 50 law enforcement agencies across Indiana in partnering with Special Olympics Indiana and Dunkin’ stores on Friday, May 15, for the annual “Cop on a Rooftop” fundraising event.
Southport officers will be stationed at the Dunkin’ located at 8134 E. Southport Road from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., raising awareness and collecting donations in support of Special Olympics Indiana.
Visitors to participating Dunkin’ locations are encouraged to stop by, contribute, and learn more about their local Special Olympics programs. Officers and public safety personnel will be visible in, around, and even on top of the store as they work to support more than 20,000 Hoosier athletes who train and compete year-round at no cost through Special Olympics.
Individuals who donate will receive a coupon for a free donut, and those contributing $10 or more will receive a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.
“Cop on a Rooftop is a meaningful opportunity for our officers to directly support the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Indiana,” said Chief Vaughn. “The funds raised help provide essential training, competition opportunities, and life-changing experiences for participants. We’re proud to stand alongside these athletes and help foster confidence, inclusion, and community through this partnership.”
To date, Cop on a Rooftop events have raised more than $125,000 for Special Olympics Indiana.
