Schools Out!

Congratulations to you all who got through the school year! Now we are facing another beast of a task, getting the youth through summer break.

Break up the summer by creating a bucket list of family fun with your kids. You can use Bradford and I’s as an example.

1) Cinderella’s Beef and Boards – This show runs until July 12. We went as a date night, but it is also a perfect show for young children. The cast was engaging, and the lead was phenomenal! The dinner was also a delicious array of mac n cheese, fries, and chicken tenders, which is perfect for any age.

2) Firefly hunting – as a friend to bugs, I would never encouraging killing them (even the ugly ones). Instead, go to fields or parks at dusk, frolic around, and try your hand at gently catching fireflies. This was one of my favorite parts of my childhood.

3) Go to State Parks – I have a State Parks pass and it pays for itself. The DNR puts on tons of family friendly programming throughout the summer. In addition, they offer a program where you become a friend of the park and earn a pin once you complete required tasks.

4) Summer Fun Runs – Participate in the Hendricks County Parks Summer Fun Run. You explore new trails and parks all around Hendricks County. You can walk or run with other community members on Wednesday nights.

5) Hendricks County 4-H Fair – Those who know me know that I would never skip the Hendricks County 4-H Fair. This year, there are a few additional programs being offered to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the USA. You’ll find us at the rodeo, supporting the barrel racers!

6) Visit a Farmers Market – Since we are in Brownsburg, we try and go to the Thursday Farmers Market every week to get our fresh produce and enjoy live music.
