Junior Vivian Hayes attended the Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday, January 31. Not only was Vivian nominated to attend this event, but she also receives a $5,000 renewable scholarship to study at the University of Indianapolis, if she so chooses.
When asked about, the event Vivian shared, “Attending the UIndy Lugar Symposium allowed me to better understand my place as a young adult in this world. While many, including myself, often wait for the days when we are older to have an impact and a say in society, this event showed me that I do not have to wait. My impact starts today. Being surrounded by intellectually motivated kids my age not only allowed me to hear new ideas and thought processes, but pushed me to better understand my own. I am blessed I was chosen to attend, as it will truly impact the decisions I will begin making today for my future.”
“Each year, we are able to nominate student leaders to represent Roncalli High School at Richard G. Lugar for Tomorrow’s Leaders at the University of Indianapolis. Our representative, Vivian Hayes, excels not only in her academic achievements but also in her service and leadership. The entire guidance department is incredibly proud of what Vivian has accomplished and are excited to see how she continues to shape and inspire the world,” said Steven Freck, Roncalli High School college and career counselor.
