Roncalli High School students, faculty and staff united during the week of August 24 for the school’s annual Canned Food Drive, raising the equivalent of 67,936 cans for families in need. Thank you to the Roncalli community who supported this year’s event! Students, faculty and staff collected a total of 1,010 pantry staples and $33,463 in cash donations, which will be distributed to local food pantries serving the Indianapolis community.
Senior student council co-president Lydia Traylor shared, “It was so empowering to see everyone donating money not only for the out-of-uniform days, but also to make a real difference and change in someone’s life and our community!”

Roncalli chemistry teacher and student council moderator Sarah Rose said, “I am really proud of the senior class for stepping up and participating in this year’s Canned Food Drive. They led our school with the highest percent of participation. Our entire school really rallied together to make this another successful year, and our donations will make a difference for those in our community.”
“Service continues to be one of the key pillars of our school. The Canned Food Drive has been another great example of our students coming together to serve the needs of our local community and food pantries. Great job, Royals!” said Roncalli principal Kevin Banich (Class of 2009).
Roncalli’s Canned Food Drive reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to service, one of its core values. With over 67,000 cans worth of donations, students and staff have helped ensure local food pantries can continue supporting families across Indianapolis.
