The Johnson County Museum of History is hosting its annual fundraiser, the Wine, Cheese & All That Jazz event.
Attendees can expect to sample wines from local wineries, taste a variety of gourmet cheeses from Vino Villa in Greenwood, and enjoy live music from The Steve Goodman Trio.
“This event is the main fundraiser for the Johnson County Historical Society, which helps support the museum by providing support for collection care, exhibits, programming, and some staff,” said David Pfeiffer, museum director.
In addition, a silent auction bid will be filled with unique local gifts. Funds raised at this event will be put towards ongoing repairs to the Hendricks Cabin.
“The Hendricks Cabin is approximately 200 years old,” said Pfeiffer, “A little over a year ago, we wanted to give it a good ‘check up’. It was inspected by Mike Nickels Log Cabins. While it is in overall good shape, it could use some work. Some of the tasks include replacing compromised logs, repairing loose joints between the logs, several windows need new panes or need to be re-caulked, and the addition of a gutter on the north side of the cabin would keep rain off the north wall.”
“The cabin is so important to the museum as it is a tangible part of our early county history and shows what life was like in a way that visitors and school groups can explore” said Pfeiffer.
“The Johnson County Museum of History is here to tell our story! We have been around for almost 100 years telling the story of Johnson County. We cover county history from fossils to the 1950s and we’re FREE!” said Pfeiffer.
Tickets for this 21 and up event can be purchased at the museum, over the phone at 317-346-4500, or by mailing a check to 135 N. Main Street in Franklin. Tickets are $50 in advance and $55 at the door.
