Beech Grove Little League (10/12/24)
Several towns hosted various Halloween-themed festivals and trunk or treats throughout the month of October.
Beech Grove Little League hosted its Trunk or Treat event Oct. 12, 2024. League Information Officer Margaret Butrum said this is the first time the league has hosted the event independently of other youth organizations.
“There’s been a few years where we teamed up with girls youth softball to do it with them, and this year it was better for us to do it at our own park,” she said. “We have a new Board of Directors and we’re super motivated to get back involved in our community.”

Twenty-six cars signed up to participate in the Beech Grove Little League Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 12. Irvington residents Adam Derengowski (left) and Karly Keiper (second from left) heard about the event on Facebook and decided to dress up as fishermen. Derengowski tossed Swedish Fish to trunk-or-treaters, while Keiper handed out other candy. Keiper said she got the idea for a fishery-themed table from Tik Tok.
Local preschool teacher Crystal Ailes (left) and her son Luke (right) set up their vehicle to include mystery buckets. Ailes said she wanted to make kids work for their candy by reaching into the bucket to feel a mystery texture. The textures represented “ooey-gooey” things like monster teeth, eyeballs, worms and ghost poop. Luke plays for the little league, which is how they heard about the event.

The event saw a huge turnout, with lines of costumed children and families snaking around the building awaiting their turn to receive goodies from the 25 vehicles in attendance.
Bargersville Trunk or Treat saw about 25 vehicles in attendance. Vehicles were set up by local businesses, like Julie Shaw Certified Travel Agent on the left of this photo, and School Board candidates, like Dr. Charity Flores on the right.

Attendees came from all over, like Columbus siblings Addisyn and Alexander, who were dinosaurs. Lines snaked around the south and west sides of the Town Hall building while people waited in line.

Southport Trunk or Treat (10/26/24)
The Southport Parks Department held its annual Trunk or Treat event Oct. 26 at Southport Park.
About 15 cars attended, which was less than previous years, but park board members attribute the attendance to the fact there were several other trunk or treats happening that evening in this area.
