The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department hosted a Freedom Park Master Plan Meeting on Jan. 20.
Freedom Park is located in southwest Greenwood and currently features a 1.5-mile walking trail, disc golf course, soccer and football fields, a large playground, and tennis and basketball courts.
It is also home to the Freedom Springs Aquatic Center in the summer months and serves as Greenwood’s sledding headquarters in the winter months.
Freedom Springs Aquatic Center features slides, a lazy river, cabanas, shelters for large groups, and an “island” that functions as a stage for live performances. This center is open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.
During the meeting on Jan. 20, community members viewed the plans for the park and learned more about the department’s vision for the park.
