Chuck Weisenbach Announces Retirement
After 43 Years of Service to Roncalli High School

After more than four decades of dedicated service to Catholic education, leadership and student formation, Chuck Weisenbach will retire from Roncalli High School on June 30, 2027, concluding a remarkable 44-year career that has left an enduring impact on generations of students, families, faculty and alumni.

A 1979 graduate of Roncalli, Weisenbach returned to his alma mater after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University in 1983 and later a Master of Science degree and Administrative Certification from Butler in 1989.

His career in Catholic education began with one year of teaching at Bishop Chatard High School during the 1983-84 school year. He then returned to Roncalli, where he served as a teacher and director of public relations from 1984 to 1990. Weisenbach coached the varsity boys basketball team from 1989 to 1995.

In 1990, Weisenbach was named assistant principal at Roncalli, a position he held for five years before being appointed principal in 1995. He served as principal for 26 years, guiding the school through significant growth and change while remaining steadfast in its Catholic mission and commitment to academic excellence.

In 2021, Weisenbach became president of Roncalli High School, continuing his leadership through 2027. His tenure as president has focused on strengthening the school’s Catholic identity, enhancing educational opportunities, supporting faculty and staff and fostering strong relationships with alumni, benefactors and the broader community.

Throughout his career, Weisenbach has been deeply committed to student development both inside and outside the classroom. He served as a varsity boys basketball coach, freshman baseball coach and, for more than four decades, as a senior Christian Awakening Retreat adult group leader, helping countless students deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with God.

Archdiocese of Indianapolis Superintendent Dr. Brian Disney shared, “We are extremely grateful for Mr. Weisenbach’s lifelong contributions to Roncalli High School and to Catholic education. May God continue to bless Chuck and his family.”

“Chuck Weisenbach has dedicated his career to Roncalli and has led the school in various positions with great passion, organization, communication and love in his heart, always putting the students first. He has strived to emphasize the Catholic faith in all aspects of the school, which has allowed the Holy Spirit to have a maximal impact on Roncalli. We are all greatly indebted to Chuck for the time he has given to Roncalli and the dramatic effect his leadership has had on the evolution of Roncalli to its current status as one of the premier Catholic high schools in the state and country,” stated Dr. Michael Morelli, current chairperson of the Roncalli board of directors.

Weisenbach’s contributions have been recognized through numerous honors and appointments, including:
