Benjamin’s Sweet Comeback: Classic Bakes, Pies, and Community Connection

By BRITTNEY DIAL TESTIN

Andrea Brewer began her baking business in 2018 due to her love of baking. After selling on social media and at vendor events, her business expanded into Benjamin’s.

“Benjamin’s has a long history in Franklin,” Brewer said. “It originally opened in the 1990s on E Court Street. In 2022, I took over as either the sixth or seventh owner. 2 years later, we closed the doors. Business was slow and the market was and still is flooded, so we threw in the towel.”

After focusing on her family and health for a while, Brewer realized how much she missed baking.

“I felt like going back to my roots of doing vendor events and festivals, [that] was what brought me the most joy!” she said. “We are also raising funds to outfit a trailer into a food trailer, where we’ll offer our panini’s, wraps, and sandwiches again. And, of course, we’ll continue to make baked goods too once we get it built. We’re thinking it’s still a minimum of 3 years away.”

Benjamin’s offers a variety of items, from simple chocolate chip cookies to their most popular item, oatmeal cream pies. These cream pies sell out at most events and come in a variety of flavors, including caramel apple, maple bacon, pumpkin, and s’mores. They are also offering Pumpkin Rolls through December. In November, the pie menu will be featured, including Brewer’s Great Grammy’s Sugar Cream Pie.

Brewer is also working on a secret new scone flavor: “I’m working with a surprise guest to come up with the flavor! So, watch for the reveal in the very near future.”

Benjamin’s connects with the community through social media, festivals, events, and parades. Currently, they are preparing 1000+ mini chocolate chip cookies that will be handed out at a parade this Saturday.

“Something that makes our business unique is we have so much to offer, it would take a while to list everything, but we love a variety for everyone! We don’t do the big fancy cakes and cookies, but classic things are good for any occasion.”

Benjamin’s will be attending a few events in the upcoming weeks, including:

  • September 27 – Fall Parade in Franklin
  • October 4 – Franklin Fall Vintage Fest
  • October 25 – Trafalgar Farmer’s Market
  • December 6 – Franklin Winter Market TBA
  • December 20 – Deck the Stalls in Nineveh
