First and foremost, I give all honor and glory to the Lord God Almighty. I am beyond grateful for the blessing and responsibility of being Malik’s father. Walking alongside this young man and helping bring his God-given heart for others to life has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
When Malik said he wanted to help the homeless, I simply said yes and helped him take that first step. What began with handing out a few blankets from my old PT Cruiser has grown—by God’s grace—into a fully recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry, Malik’s Blankets for the Homeless. Over the past four years, we have been blessed to serve hundreds of men and women struggling with homelessness, food insecurity, and lack of warmth. Through our outreach, we strive not only to meet physical needs with blankets, food, clothing, hygiene items, and Bibles—but also to show the love of Christ, restore dignity, and offer hope.
Today, we took another major step forward in that mission.
By the grace of God and the generosity of faithful supporters, Malik’s Blankets for the Homeless now has a dedicated outreach vehicle—a box truck that will dramatically expand our ability to serve. This vehicle allows us to be organized, prepared, and responsive, enabling us to reach people within 30–45 minutes instead of spending hours planning, packing, renting U-Hauls, and unloading. It will house our blankets, hygiene items, clothing, and supplies and allow us to serve more people, more effectively, and more consistently.
I want to give special thanks to Maston from Renegade Recovery of Indiana for his generous donation that made this vehicle possible. I am also grateful for his continued commitment to this ministry as a member of our Board of Directors and as a trusted friend.
I also want to sincerely thank every donor who gave toward this effort. Every gift, every prayer, and every act of obedience has helped advance this mission. This vehicle represents hope—hope for our brothers and sisters struggling with homelessness in our city and a tool God will use to reach even more lives.
