Milk House Blooms was founded in 2025 by two friends, Jo Ellen Lengacher and Peggy Bryan.
“We have been friends, have loved helping other florist friends with their designs and have grown flowers for many years. In 2023, Peggy helped me grow flowers for my daughter’s wedding, which led to ideas of increasing our partnership in growing and selling cut flowers beyond our first few sales” said Jo Ellen.
“In 2024, both of our youngest children graduated, wrapping up homeschooling journeys for both of our families. Also in 2024, Peggy’s partnership in Maschmeyer Peonies ended and a group of friends joined together to help build a high tunnel on the Lengacher’s property where flowers could start much earlier in the year. It felt like it was time to step into growing and designing on a bigger than hobby scale, which led to Milk House Blooms beginning” shared Jo Ellen.
Milk House Blooms offers a wide variety of flowers for sale by bucket or bouquet with made-to-order options, available at their farm stand and local farmer’s markets.
“This year we focused on peonies, bouquet sunflowers and dahlias, along with rows and rows of celosia, larkspur, snapdragons, zinnias, lisianthus, mums and other filler flowers. Next season we will add ranunculus and greatly increase our lisianthus offering, with hopes to have
beautiful, locally grown bouquets for Mother’s Day” said Jo Ellen.
“My favorite parts of the business have been learning to grow something new each year—this season, the heritage mums were an exciting new adventure—being continually amazed by the beauty of our flowers (which truly never gets old), and connecting with our people, whether at the farmers market or with brides who come to us sharing their visions of beauty for their wedding day. I love bringing those visions to life” shared Peggy.
“What makes Milk House Blooms unique is the heart behind it-a partnership between two homeschool moms and former biology teachers who turned their love of growing things into a flower farm. Our name comes from the original milk house that stands beside our barn, which predates the 1870 farmhouse. Today, the old milking parlor has been repurposed as our floral design lab. We’re continuing a long heritage of production on this property with a new focus. We love being a part of continuing that tradition” shared Jo Ellen.
In addition, Milk House Blooms offers additional services, such as the installation of seasonal porch pots, event and wedding designs, and in-home Christmas decoration design, installation and tear-down services.
